A Wix sitemap is the XML file list of your public URLs that search engines use for discovery. Every Wix site gets one automatically at /sitemap.xml on your domain. You do not build it by hand. Your job is to open the right host, submit the sitemap index once in Google Search Console (or via Wix's Google connect flow), then fix any URLs Search Console flags.

What a Wix sitemap is
An XML sitemap lists page URLs and update hints so crawlers can find products, collections, blog posts, and static pages without relying only on internal links. Wix keeps the file in sync when you publish. It is not an HTML footer "site map" page for humans.

How to find sitemap.xml
- Publish the site so the public domain is current.
- In a browser, open https://your-custom-domain.com/sitemap.xml.
- Confirm you see XML (often a sitemap index with nested sitemap links).
- Prefer the custom domain over the free wixsite.com host when both exist.
Important
Submit and inspect the same host you want ranked. Mixing the free subdomain sitemap with a custom-domain Search Console property causes confusing sitemap reports.
Sitemap index vs child sitemaps
Wix documents a sitemap index at /sitemap.xml that points to secondary sitemaps by content type. Examples in Wix help include pages, blog posts, products, and other feature sitemaps depending on what your site uses. You normally submit the index, not every child file one by one.

How to submit to Google
Two supported paths:

- Manual Search Console: verify the property, open Sitemaps, enter sitemap.xml, submit, then wait for Google to process.
After the first successful submit, you rarely need to submit again for routine catalog edits. Use URL Inspection when one product URL stays "URL is not on Google" after publish.
What updates automatically
- New published pages and products appear in the XML after Wix regenerates the sitemap
- Removed or unpublished URLs should drop out over time
- You do not edit lastmod by hand in an FTP file
- Robots.txt may reference the sitemap; verify rather than inventing a second index URL

When the sitemap is not the problem
- Search Console already shows the sitemap as Success and products still do not rank. Work on content and links.
- One blog post is missing. Inspect that URL instead of rebuilding the whole sitemap.
- You changed a slug. Fix the 301 redirect and canonical path, then inspect.
- The store is password protected or indexing is disabled site-wide. Unlock that before sitemap theory.

Is a sitemap the same as ranking?+
No. A sitemap helps discovery. Rankings still depend on useful content, links, and page experience. A perfect sitemap will not save empty product pages.
